Salt & Coffee

I was telling my sister the other day how I tried drinking black coffee plain (which wasn't bad, btw) and she mentioned how her boss used to drink black coffee but with a bit of salt. That caught me off guard for a second as I thought that perhaps she meant sugar rather than salt. After hearing about this, I was intrigued. I don't drink coffee daily but when I do, I like it strong. I use about 1.5 tablespoons per cup and add an additional 1 or 2 extra scoops depending on my mood. This is what we drink at work:

I add a bit of French Vanilla flavored creamer to my coffee. I might have added a bit too much today because my coffee tasted a bit too sweet with a bitter aftertaste. I usually just suck it up and deal with it but I decided to try adding salt to it. WOW what a difference! It tasted less sweet and the bitter taste was gone to be replaced by a richer coffee bean flavor. I think I shall do this more often!

I looked up this great salt in coffee idea and found this explanation/reasoning. Awesome!

Now that I can focus again, back to work!
